 ศาสตราจารย์ ดร. สุรินทร์ พงศ์ศุภสมิทธิ์ ผู้อำนวยการสถาบันส่งเสริมการสอนวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี (สสวท.) แจ้งว่า สสวท. จะจัดการประกวดภาพถ่ายด้วยกล้องดิจิทัล หัวข้อ “วิทยาศาสตร์ และเทคโนโลยีในวิถีชีวิตเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง”
เพื่อส่งเสริมและกระตุ้นให้ผู้สนใจได้เรียนรู้วิทยาศาสตร์จากสิ่งที่มองเห็นใกล้ตัวและเกี่ยวข้องกับชีวิตประจำวันในวิถีชีวิตเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง และสื่อความหมายโดยผ่านภาพถ่ายดิจิทัล เพื่อให้เกิดการพัฒนารูปแบบภาพถ่ายดิจิทัลที่มีคุณภาพ สามารถนำไปใช้เป็นสื่อการเรียนการสอนวิทยาศาสตร์ คณิตศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีได้ต่อไป
ภาพที่ส่งเข้าประกวดจะต้องสื่อความหมายของการนำวิทยาศาสตร์ และเทคโนโลยีมาใช้ในวิถีชีวิตเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง โดยจะต้องเป็นภาพถ่ายสี (Color Print) ที่ส่งเข้าประกวดให้อัดขยายลงในกระดาษขนาด 8x10 นิ้ว ต้องเป็นภาพที่ถ่ายเองด้วยกล้องดิจิทัลที่มีความละเอียดไม่น้อยกว่า 3 Mega Pixel และต้องเป็นภาพที่ไม่เคยส่งเข้าประกวดและเผยแพร่ในสื่อต่างๆ มาก่อน ห้ามใช้เทคนิคการตกแต่งภาพด้วยคอมพิวเตอร์ ตั้งชื่อภาพพร้อมเขียนคำบรรยายเชิงวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีความยาวไม่เกิน 5 บรรทัด
ส่งภาพต้นฉบับพร้อมไฟล์ภาพในรูปซีดีรอม ไฟล์ภาพต้นฉบับถือเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ของสถาบันส่งเสริมการสอนวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี และขอสงวนสิทธิ์ที่จะนำภาพไปจัดแสดงในที่ต่าง ๆ หรือเผยแพร่ในเอกสารสิ่งพิมพ์ หนังสือเรียน และสื่ออื่นๆ เพื่อจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการเรียนการสอนวิทยาศาสตร์ คณิตศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีต่อไป

สำนักพิมพ์ ดีเอ็มจี เปิดตัวหนังสือ "ตามรอยพระยุคลบาท" ซึ่งเป็นหนังสือที่ประมวลพระบรมฉายาลักษณ์ของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทั้งหมด ๒๐๐ ภาพ ตั้งแต่พระบรมฉายาลักษณ์เมื่อครั้งยังทรงพระเยาว์ พระราชประวัติ และพระราชกรณียกิจ
คุณดนัย จันทร์เจ้าฉาย (ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร สำนักพิมพ์ดีเอ็มจี) กล่าวว่า พระบรมฉายาลักษณ์ทั้งหมดที่นำมาตีพิมพ์ในหนังสือเล่มนี้ ได้รับพระราชทานมาตั้งแต่เมื่อครั้งจัดงาน "นิทรรศการเฉลิมพระเกียรติ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เนื่องในโอกาสการจัดงานฉลองสิริราชสมบัติครบ ๖๐ ปี" ซึ่งพระบรมฉายาลักษณ์ในหนังสือเล่มนี้จะเป็นพระบรมฉายาลักษณ์เดียวกับที่จัดงานนิทรรศการ
หนังสือตามรอยพระยุคลบาท ได้ถูกตีพิมพ์ออกมาจำนวนจำกัดเพียง ๓,๐๐๐ เล่ม โดยแบ่งออกเป็น ๒ แบบ คือ ชุดวีไอพีจำนวน ๑,๕๐๐ เล่ม และชุดทองคำจำนวน ๑,๕๐๐ เล่ม สำหรับชุดทองคำภายในเล่มจะมีการพระบรมฉายาลักษณ์ทองคำบริสุทธิ์ ๙๙.๙ เปอร์เซ็นต์ จำนวน ๕ ภาพ พร้อมใบรับรองสิทธิระบุลำดับการพิมพ์ลงพระนามโดย ม.จ.มงคลเฉลิม ยุคล ที่ปรึกษากิตติมศักดิ์ในการจัดพิมพ์หนังสือเล่มนี้

เป็นโครงการที่เปิดโอกาสให้เด็ก เยาวชน ประชาชนและองค์กรในทุกภาคส่วนของสังคม ได้เข้ามีส่วนร่วมในการ ทำความดีถวายพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว
และส่งเสริมทัศนคติ และค่านิยมในการทำความดี โดยเน้นคุณธรรมด้านความซื่อสัตย์สุจริต เพื่อสร้างกระแสการขับเคลื่อนเชิงคุณธรรมในสังคมไทย
ทั้งนี้ในโครงการฯจะประกอบด้วยกิจกรรมการประกวด ๓ ประเภท ได้แก่
๑) การประกวดเรียงความ เรียงถ้อย ร้อยคำ ...บอกเล่าความดีของคนที่รู้จัก (สำหรับนักเรียนระดับประถมศึกษาและระดับมัธยมศึกษา)
๒) การประกวดวาดภาพ วาดเส้นสาย ถ่ายทอดความซื่อตรง...ถวายองค์นวมินทร์ (สำหรับนักเรียนระดับประถมศึกษาและระดับมัธยมศึกษา)
๓) การประกวดบทกวีร่วมสมัย กาพย์กลอน...สอนคุณธรรม ตามแนวพระราชดำรัส (สำหรับนิสิต นักศึกษาและบุคคลทั่วไป)

คุณบรรพต จำนงกิจ (๓๕ ปี) พ่อค้าขายเสื้อผ้า อยู่บ้านเลขที่ ๒๗๖/๑ ม.๓ ต.วังชมภู อ.เมือง จ.เพชรบูรณ์ ได้ใช้เวลาว่าง ปั้นดินน้ำมันเป็นรูปพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ในพระอิริยาบทต่างๆ ขณะทรงพระราชกรณียกิจ จนทำให้ผู้พบเห็นทั้งเด็ก ผู้ใหญ่ต่างชื่นชมและทึ่งในความสามารถ
คุณบรรพต ให้สัมภาษณ์กับนักข่าวว่า ไม่มีความรู้ด้านศิลปกรรมการปั้นมาก่อน แต่อาศัยความพยายาม ลองผิด ลองถูก จนกระทั่งประสบความสำเร็จ
โดยเริ่มปั้นในพระอิริยาบถขณะโบกพระหัตถ์จนสำเร็จ จึงหันไปปั้นในพระอิริยาบถอื่น จากภาพในหนังสือพระราชกรณียกิจ ล่าสุดเพิ่งปั้นมาแล้วองค์ที่ ๑๒๐ เสร็จสิ้นไปเมื่อ ๑๕ มิถุนายน
